Eleocharis acicularis, commonly known as dwarf hairgrass or needle spike-rush, is a fine-textured aquatic plant with slender, grass-like green stems that form dense, low-growing mats in shallow water or wet margins. Its minimalist appearance makes it ideal for softening pond edges and creating a naturalistic, meadow-like effect beneath the water surface.

Despite its subtle appearance, this plant has strong ecological value, helping to oxygenate water and providing shelter for small aquatic organisms and fish fry. Its discreet flowers are insignificant visually, but the plant plays an important role in stabilising substrates and supporting healthy pond ecosystems.
