Geranium palustre, commonly known as marsh cranesbill, is a clump-forming perennial with finely divided, bright green leaves that create a soft, mounded habit. In summer, it produces saucer-shaped, vivid violet-purple flowers with prominent dark veins, which rise above the foliage on slender stems.
The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, giving the plant strong ecological value. Its upright yet compact habit and preference for damp conditions make it ideal for pond edges, wet meadows, and naturalistic, moisture-retentive borders.
