Hottonia palustris, commonly known as water violet, is a delicate native aquatic with finely divided, feathery submerged foliage that forms soft underwater rosettes. In spring, slender stems rise above the surface carrying whorls of pale pink flowers with yellow centres, creating an elegant, airy display.

It thrives in still or slow-moving water in full sun to partial shade and is well suited to wildlife ponds. The submerged foliage provides shelter for aquatic invertebrates and spawning amphibians, while the nectar-rich flowers attract pollinating insects.
