Iris laevigata 'Blue', commonly known as Blue Japanese water iris, is an aquatic perennial with upright, sword-shaped green leaves that form dense clumps along pond margins and in damp ground. In late spring to early summer it produces large, deep blue flowers often showing a central light patch, adding a striking splash of colour to wet garden settings.
This cultivar thrives in shallow water or consistently moist soil and supports pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Its robust clump-forming habit and tolerance of wet conditions make it ideal for naturalistic water features, bog gardens, and pond edges where moisture is reliable.
