Lobelia x speciosa 'Vedrariensis', commonly known as purple lobelia, is an upright, clump-forming perennial with narrow, green leaves often tinged with red on the stems. In mid to late summer it produces tall spikes of tubular, deep violet-purple flowers on strong stems, creating a striking splash of colour along pond margins and in wet soils.
This cultivar supports pollinators and adds robust seasonal interest to naturalistic planting schemes. Its upright habit and preference for consistently moist or shallowly submerged soil make it ideal for pond edges, bog gardens, and damp borders.
